Increasing the availability of potable drinking water in the Parchundi village, which lies in Beed district and is one of the most drought-affected districts in Maharashtra state. We have implemented a water system to aid them in their water crisis.

Narrative

Activities implemented :
•Geological survey for sitting of bore well was done
• A bore well of 6 inches diameter of 450 ft length was drilled.
•Installation of 6 H P (horse power) submersible pump on the bore well with necessary accessories was done
•Repairs of old pipe line and old electronic motor was installed on the drinking water well to lift the water from the well to the exisiting overhead tank.
•Trainings were imparted by WOTR team to the pani samittee, SMS and grampanchyat members regarding the safe drinking water and sanitation as well as the management sustenance of the project.

Impacts : 6 years ago villagers used to face drinking water problem especially in summer due to insufficient water supply. Now due to the drilling of new bore well people have access to drinking and for domestic use of water throughout the year. The drudgery of women has been reduced considerably in terms of physical work and traveling time.

The water committee and the SMS takes the responisbility for the post the smooth functioning of the project. After the completion of project, it was handed over to the gram panchayat. The gram panchayat is responsible for the distribution, purification of the drinking water and collection of the water tax from each family.

Supplementary support is necessary for the unsuccessful drinking water projects.

As in Parchundi, the drinking water project was partially completed by the government but due to insufficient water source the same was not being used for last 6 years. But due to the support of BPR, for drilling bore well and installation of pump set the village now have access to safe drinking water and the water problem has been resolved
