Sustainability

Creating and measuring long-term impact

The Village Development Committee of the village has imlemented this activity. The GP (local goverment of Darewadi) has taken the responsibiilty of the maintenance and the water tax collection of the project.

The GP has appointed local person from the village as a pump operator and for the water distribution of water to the entire village (including these 4 hamlets). The water purification TCL powder is done by the operator.

Learnings

Knowledge of project and process for sharing

The remote and interior hamlets which are negelected / the benefits of the govt schemes are not received by the poor and the needy community. They deserve the external support like BPR to provide the very basic and the most important need of safe drinking water.

Impact

People Impacted: 360

People Getting Safe Drinking Water: 360

360 persons (166 women & 194 men)

School Children Getting Water: 56

There is no primary school in these 4 hamlets (vasti). Therefore this project results in no direct benefit to the school children. However, there are 56 school going children which go the main village primary school and the school has already an access to drinking water under the government scheme

People Getting Sanitation: 360

Recently (oct 2009), the Darewadi village has received the Nirmal Gram Ward for an open defecation free village. Thus, all the household from the hamlets have the toilet facilites and are using the same.
