People get water for 8 months but the water is not safe for drinking purpose. The rest of the period people have to depend on the water tankers which is supplied by the government during the summer months. Households : 131 men : 216

Presently there is no drinking water provision for the school. After the implementation of the project a provision of a stand post will be made and school will be able to access water from it. A total of 91 students (girls 40, boys 51) will get benefit from this scheme. 144
It is difficult to mention the exact number of people getting the sanitation. An approx. number is mentioned on the basis of discussions with the villagers.

This village has been selected for the watershed development programme since April 2005 by WOTR. Presently the project is in the capacity building phase. Capacity Building
There is a change in the original plan of the construction of water storage tank. Previously it was proposed that the water tank would be constructed at the ground level (higher elevation). But due to this it was difficult to supply the water evenly to the all the families. Hence it was decided to construct the tank on pillars of a height of 11ft. The entire technical design of the water tank was changed thus resulting into increase in the cost of USD 1,992. The increase in cost is also due to price rise in rates of raw material (cement, iron etc.) The revised total cost is of USD 13,920 against the estimated cost Rs. 11,928 stated earlier.

Before the completion of the project the yearly contibution of Rs. 30,000 (USD 682) would be collected from the beneficiary families towards operational expenses and maintenance fund. This contribution would be continued every year to ensure the maintenance as well as major repairs and replacement of spare parts in the long run. 1. The watershed development work is being implemented in this village by WOTR through its support organisation Surabhi Gramin Vikas Sanstha. Under this programme, the soil and water conservation work would be completed in the next two years. This would help to increase the ground water table and this programme would be supportive to strengthen the drinking water source in future even if drought condition arises. 2. Maintenance strategy : Before the initiation of the activity the villagers have contributed Rs. 72,000 (USD 1636) against the total cost of Rs. 5,11,220 (USD 1169). The implementation is being done by the water committee with the support of SMS (Apex body of SHGs) and village development committee) Apart from the peoples contribution, every family shall contribute Rs. 300/- in advance towards the first year’s maintenance fund. The Surabhi Gramin Vikas Sanstha (NGO) is engaged as a facilitation organization to provide the technical guidance to the Water Committee as well as support for social mobilization. The regional office of WOTR at Aurangabad conducts regular monitoring of the project to ensure the quality of the work. While planning the project estimation , a detail technical survey should be done regarding the distribution system while allotting pipe connections to the families. |
