Organization Background

Since our inception in 1968, we have supported innovative community-led development projects in over 20 states of India and disbursed about $4.5 million to projects in India. We work in partnership with dedicated social workers in India and the U.S.

It is our experience that projects always reflect the leadership – so we take great care to choose projects run by, or recommended by, activists with a track record of community service. It is ICA’s practice only to work with those NGOs whose guiding principles are secular, non-partisan and democratic.

ICA’s Mission is to be a catalyst for social and economic equity through community driven initiatives leading to integrated development in India. Our method is to provide seed funding, ongoing financial resources, and moral and technical support to innovative, community-based development initiatives.
