hello there
can you please provide a description of the filter and the specs? How it work? Is it built locally using local materials? Is it imported? Who maintains it? How much water does it filter/day?
Who will install/maintain it?
What is your organizational infrastructure for planning, implementation and maintenance and financial support for maintenance and outreach?
good luck!

Dear Gemma,
Greetings.
This application is the expansion of our earlier project funded by PWX during 2009-10 (application Id 231). The low cost water filter promoted under this project is the ceramic syphon water filter. This water filter is produced and marketed by Basic Water Needs Foundation with its office located in Auroville, Pondicherry.
Approximately 6 litres of water could be filtered per hour by using this water filter. It is easy to maintain the filter. The water filter will be installed by the staff of Ekoventure after organising awareness meetings in the respective schools. Further, the staff of the School will be trained on the day-to-day maintenance of the water filter.
The Water Filters provided to 35 nos. of Government Primary Schools earlier are being properly utilised and maintained by the School authorities.
The cost of maintenance has been born by the School authorities.
The details of the water filter and maintenance is being attached in the application
with warm regards

Dear Byron,
Thanks for the information.
The Syphon water filter that we are using costs approximately $ 6.00 and is readily available locally. The maintenance is very easy and further in case of any replacement, the Basic Water Needs Foundation does it at no extra cost.
From the website, we could not find out the Indian marketing agency for the pointonefilter. Further, it costs $59.23 per filter.
with warm regards

Dear Byron,
Greetings.
The district Education Department has been contacted and explained about this project (during the implementtaion of the similar project - application ID 231) and the authorities of the Education Department have assured the proper utilisation and maintenance of the Water Filters.
The School authorities (teachers + staff) support us in organising the awareness meetings, demonstrations on the use and maintenance of the water filters and finally after the implementation help in the maintenance of the water filters installed.
regards
Natarajan
