Mukono Womens AIDS Task Force is involved in sensitization and coordination of Clean affordable Water and Sanitation facilities countrywide, now concentrating in 80 Islands in Mukono lake Victoria Territories,plus hundred others in Wakiso, Rakai and Kiboga Districts, residents of these Islands plus Shores/;Banks residents have to collect Water from Lake, Rivers, Swamps, seasonal Rain Pools, and Share with livestock, resident mostly deficate in open space and in Water, no Toilets. In some cases women and Children walk upto 3 kilometres or more to fetch water each day.
MWATF was founded by NAMULONDO Sarah Asumini, being concerned about the Dangers of HIV/AIDS in communities, their economic, social, emotional and cultural burdens in the communities, pluss support for those infected with HIV/AIDS.
The organization has since been able to offer Counselling Services, organized and conduct several Workshops, Seminare, Community Mobilization on Health Issues, Mobilizing and organizing Female Self-Control groups and Clubs, Community Voluntary Activities,Rain Water Harvesting training and Awareness, Clean Sanitation Techniques including Pit Latrines construction and Latrine Slabs makingt, Inheritance-rights for Widows and Orphans, Energy Saving Stoves construction and treeplanting amony women and Youthy.
For thos Living with HIV/AIDS, MWATF has been directing them to access ARVs/ARTs.
Among youth and coomunity there have been Volountary HIV/Counselling and Counselling.
