This site #PW260. is in the Matikumra village under the jurisdiction of the Chourashi panchayat of Deganga block in the district of North 24 Parganas.. The arsenic concentration of the private tubewell of Ahadali Ata was found to be 0.05 mg/L that was tested on 11/01/2013 with the VisuPAsS Visual Portable Arsenic testing field kit. The construction is supposed to start in mid February 2013.

    The quality of water is excellent used for drinking and cooking by 8 families of 40 members abd used for cooking only by 6 families comprised of 62 members. The community complaints on too many people are using this well so they want another one closely due to the high density of people in this locality.

People Getting Other Benefits: 30

Awareness programs such as village meetings before and after the construction of the well, health meeting and if needed projector program is done during the first year of construction. During this time the villagers are informed and educated on water borne diseases, health effects of arsenic in the drinking water and also educate, both, young and old, mainly women on how practicing proper personal hygiene prevents contagious diseases. At times more than 30 people gather at such meetings.
