Narrative
CHINCHWANE
Chinchawane watershed is in Akole taluka of Ahmednagar district. WOTR is the implementing NGO.
The project is jointly implemented with Govt. line departments. The area treatment is done through WOTR –MISEREOR watershed programme and the remaining activities are taken from the line departments. Trainings are provided to Village Watershed Committee in project planning and management.
Total area covered under various soil and water conservation activities 194.11 ha. Of this, area covered under land use Crop Cultivation is 124.66 ha, and area covered aunder land use Afforestation is 58.45 ha, 11 ha area is treated under Horti-pasture.
MAVESHI
Maveshi watershed is in Akole taluka of Ahmednagar district. WOTR is the implementing NGO. The total area covered under various soil and water conservation measures is 146.47. Of this, area covered under Crop Cultivation is 81.78 ha, and area covered under land use Grass land with Trees is 64.69 ha.
For these two project areas the following activities were carried out:
1. Raising awareness regarding the watershed development projects.
2. Regular meeting, Gramsabha, audio video shows
3. Exposure visit of villagers to the developed watershed.
4. Formation of Village Watershed Committee.
5. Organisation of village community
6. Training of Village Watershed Committee.
7. Formation of Women's self-help Groups.
8. Implementation of all watershed activities by the Village Watershed Committees assisted by NGOs
9. Technical, training, financial and monitoring by RRCs/WOTR.
10. Practical work / implementation of watershed activities in the selected micro watershed.
11. Voluntary contribution in terms of physical work by the eligible families.
Soil and Water Conservation (SWC) activities undertaken :
1. Under land use 'Crop Cultivation' (CC), Contour Bunds, Graded Bunds, Diversion drain, Farm Bunds, Waterways and Stone outlets are under taken to conserve soil and water.
2. Under land use 'Afforestation' (AF) and 'Grassland with Trees' (GT), Continuous Contour Trenches (CCTs), Refilling of CCTs for plantation purpose, Water Absorption Trenches (WATs), Contour Stone Bunds(CSBs), Gully Plugs(GPs), Grass Seed sowing on the mounds of trenches and plantation are undertaken to conserve moisture and soil.
3. Under land use 'Horti-Pasture' (HP)/ Horticulture, Continuous Contour Trenches (CCTs), Refilling of CCTs for plantation purpose, Contour Bunds Farm Bunds, Waterways and Stone outlets and plantation of Horticulture tree species are undertaken.
4. Gabion structure (wire mesh), Loose Boulder Structure (LBS), Small Earthen Structure and small Cement Dam are undertaken for water conservation purpose.
