About 2412 tribal and non-tribal families with population of around 14041 persons will be the direct beneficiaries though many more will benefit indirectly from this watershed regeneration project.

Narrative

WOTR, Udaipur is implementing Wasundhara Village Development Program (WVDP) through NGOs as well as directly through the 3 Gram Panchayats viz. Kanthariya and Lunawaton ka Kheda in Jhadol and Visma in Gogunda blocks. The total villages undertaken under this program are 11 viz. 6 from Jhadol and 5 from Gogunda. The villages chosen for direct implementation of projects are remote, backward and are inhabited by an overwhelming majority of tribes and poor people. These areas are primarily rain dependent, degraded and given the nature of the monsoons are highly vulnerable. As such all the villages and the inhabitants are in urgent need of stabilization rehabilitation and empowerment.

Gramsabhas/meetings for selection of villages were taken up in total 17 villages from Gogunda, Jhadol and Dungarpur blocks. Only those villages were selected which could undertake and complete the minimum criteria of initial shramdaan. As a part of preparatory phase supported by AHB, awareness generation regarding the project, environmental issues, local governance, women development and participation in village development, utilization of government funds, etc. was taken in eleven villages.

About 2412 tribal and non-tribal families with population of around 14041 persons will be the direct beneficiaries. Indirectly many more will be benefited within the same cluster since productivity and livelihood gains as a result of regeneration as well as infusion of wage income will raise the level of economic activity in the village, surrounding area and local economy. Similarly two local NGOs viz. Sangam Sansthan and Jan Chetna Sansthan are involved in project implementation who will take up Wasundhara Village Development Program in two villages each. The rest seven will be implemented directly thru the Gram Panchayat with support of WOTR.
