Report over phone after seeing the SMS not about being 'not used'
There was a problem of the pipe setting so turbid water used to come out so the people were not using it. After repairing the handpump it was being used for other purposes. The people had started using now for drinking & cooking as told by Aparna.

Self-supporting community- based mitigation program that provides arsenic safe water using modified dugwells along with public education on water related health effects.
Sustainability
Creating and measuring long-term impact
For 40 dugwells USD1360
Other Issues
Unusual and unexpected issues faced during project execution
Research and Development is part of the project. The arsenic level was 19 PPB tested on 30th June 2008. The Total coliform and Fecal coliform counts of the dugwell water was found as ''undetected'. Date of water collection for bacteria tests was on 6th December 2008.
Learnings
Knowledge of project and process for sharing
Though the arsenic level is low and both Total and fecal coliform counts are NIL and water is clear and normal to taste the dugwell water is not efficiently used. Public health awareness programs are needed more.
