This school has been an ACI partner with Bio-sand filters for quite some time. With the addition of the RWH system within the school compound labor and time collecting water have both been greatly reduced. The Aqua Clara trained RWH installer made the final installation of the RWH system in mid July of 2013. The technician secures himself an income through the work along with training any interested individuals in the surrounding community during the installation.

Creating and measuring long-term impact

The nature of the RWH systems installed is sustainable in its self. High quality materials and best practices of RWH installation will allow the system to remain functional for as long as the school building remains erect. The only maintenance needed for the system is an annual checkup of seals along the gutter run and entries into the storage tanks. This silicone is low cost and many schools can be checked in one day this making labor costs as low and effective as possible.

All students nursery school through standard eight present at the school on a given day. The RWH aspect of the implementation has made a particularly large impact on these students lives. When taking into consideration the average distance traveled by these students to collect water usually around 1 KM each way. Class time has increased and the students are getting the most out of their education.

This number represents the two ACI trained individuals. The entrepreneurial spirit of the project is best represented here. The training and materials provided by ACI has secured a new revenue stream for these individuals within their home communities. With the addition of the RWH harvesting project to the products for sale a even greater amount of money is available to be made.
