Piped water system for village in central Vietnam
About 775 households will get water, with around 1,500 children and 800 women benefitting.
This is one of 20 piped water projects EMW wil do in 2006. EMW has built over 90 projects, all of which are still in operation.
Bore well with submersible pump, water tower to gravity-feed, filtration system, water meters on each household.
One phase.
The community is deeply invovled in planning and implementing the project. They gather in community meetings and decide whether to accept it or not, and have to sign up before EMW will start work. Each household has to purchase a water meter from EMW.

The community will dig and back fill all pipe trenches, purchase water meters, and purchase all household plumbing and fixtures.
The project is financially self-sustaining. Villagers pay for all water they use. There are two water managers who will be hired and trained to manage the system. Their salaries are paid by the water fees.
