Background
Doddaupparalli village , Areleri Panchayat, Malur taluk, Kolar district
The village is 11kms from the malur town. The community is basically from Migrating tribes who had settled here from past 40 years, their occupation is Agricultural laborers and they are specialized in cutting huge roots of eucalyptus tree. The community migrates to the other villages and around the district.
This community leaving in a stretch of 3kms radius. Gerdenahalli, chikkaupparallli and Doddaupparalli. who are relatives to each other.
There is lower primary school of school strength of 40 children and 40 children in and anganwadi.
Children are often under the care of older folks or on their own.
The villages is surrounded by the eucalyptus trees and small patches of agricultural land where vegetables as main crops.
The drinking water facility is through the government dig bore well up to (1500ft)
The community here are scheduled tribes called Naiak’s, who‘s Traditional occupation is bird hunters and nomads. But they have settled in these areas from past 30-40 years and depend on daily wages in agricultural farms and brick factories, their living conditions and traditions practices have not changed and have least interest for the education. Alcohol among men and women is common, and women tend to take the family responsibilities as the practice of polygamy exists. children suffer from the malnutrition, irregular to school and youths are almost childlabourres ,after lower primary education the children discontinues specially girl child because they have to travel 6 kms to higher primary and villages does n’t have approach road or road transportation. Youths travel with their parents to other villages for work and most them are addicted to alcohol, smoking and panparang.The cases of child malnutrition, childmarraiges and water related diseases are high.
The village is almost deserted in week days as men and women go out /migrate to work in other town, city and villages return is weekends or bimonthly. The work is headed by a mestri.
Health status of the women and specially adolescents are in stake. The practices of personal hygiene, girl child marriages and giving birth in young age have resulted in poor health condition of the women as well as children. The average family consists of 6-11 members.
The community out of 46 HH 6HH has toilets 2 toilets is of grampanchayat member of the village and other 4 toilets built by individual families themselves.

Health awareness camps on sanitation , and other health issues which are predominant in the areas in youths( chewing pan and alcohol) will be addressed.

Technology Used:
The toilet structure is called pukka toilets with 3 pitrings, bricks and sand, cement with PVC doors and ceramic sanitary ware, and ventilation. The structure will be built by community themselves at their door premises after mason training. The door alone is fitted by the supplier.
double pit will be introduce for the families who have agricultural land or a vegetable gardens at their house hold premises.
Phases:
The project will be implemented in 5phases each phase consists of 10 toilets. The funds are released by the donor accordingly. The phase’s stages will be changing according to request and need of the community in same Panchayat or in different Panchayat.
Community Organization:
The project is implemented in the premises of the individual house hold. The health education and regular interaction, followup will create the owner ship and awareness to take care of the health as well usage of toilets. The community will participate in weekly meetings, training programme and mason training during implementation. And also contributing their labour during construction.
Government Interaction:
Aa foundation has been continued to work with the governments and networking with the departments. The sanitation programme is also supported by interested community based other trusts and IT companies teams to meet the needy community
Ancillary activities:
The sanitation programme is supported with following activities such as
A forestation in village( Aa foundation have already from 2012 have planted and community have cared 1000sapllings in participation of volunteers from IT, local NSS volunteers ,school children and teachers)
Mason training for local community
Providing job at village’s level to construct individual toilets.
Health session to the community.
Other Issues:
Thou under Swatch Bharath Abhiyan the sanitation prg has budget for rural house hold, due to lack of awareness and lack of implementation techniques it has not reached the village community. This particular stretch of our implementation areas has 140HH which has less than 10 toilets.
We have realized in the beginning of our project community participation and awareness will make the programme successful
Maintenance Revenue:
The Project is implemented at the individual house hold premises , From the initial stages , the community training , awareness and participation will be a tool to bring and create the importance of toilets and maintenance of the toilets in future, This method we are successful in our earlier 100 toilet implementation programme , thou 3-4 house hold ad men in the community of 30 Toilets we see are non using the toilets, majority of women , adolescents , children, pregnant women and old age people are benefited. Aa foundation will be doing a year followup at the field level after completion of the project.
