The Peer Water Exchange (PWX) received the mBillionth Award 2013 in the m-Environment category. Ms. Sudha Rao, Adviser, Planning Commission, GoI presented the trophy and certificate to Rajesh Shah.
mBillionth's focus this year was
Mobiles for Empowerment. PWX's SMS Reporting Service empowers people at the frontlines to report on the crisis and their daily acts to address it.
Introduced in India in Feb 2011, PWX's SMS Reporting service allows in-country field staff to report on project activities and results regularly and inexpensively.
It enables decision-makers to monitor activities in near real-time and quickly make adjustments during implementation and post-implementation phases of water and sanitation projects.
This process improves the quality, impact and sustainability of projects globally and instills investor confidence.
PWX's innovation in SMS is to link SMS Reports to projects creating a live history of activity. It allows everyone to learn from project activity, especially field-staff who are disconnected from the big picture and each other. Since 2011, over a thousand SMS' have come in and enhanced project data for everyone.
PWX is the global marketplace to select, fund, manage, and track the impact of all water and sanitation projects collaboratively, efficiently, and verifiably.
